چکیده
Background and aims: Botanic gardens play a fundamental role in conservation due to the maintenance of seed live plant collections. However, exchange ornamental seeds between botanic can facilitate entry alien species with invasive potential. In 2018, during visit collections National Botanical Garden (Chile), we discovered populations an herb genus Veronica (Plantaginaceae). The aim this paper is report for first time presence cymbalaria as new exotic feral flora Chile. M&M: Live material was studied compared original description species. collected deposited herbarium (JBN). Results: cymbalaria, which grows abundantly around biological Garden, described. Images species, map site occurrence key distinguish growing Chile are included. Conclusions: reported distribution range extended southern America. represented by ten allochthonous

Piptatherum ferganense is recorded as a new grass species for the flora of Iran collected from Ghorkhod Protected Area and Aladagh Mountains in North Khorassan province. The core distribution range of the species is Eastern Irano-Turanian with a disjunction in northeastern Iran. The morphological characters of P. ferganense are illustrated and compared with the closely related P. latifolium. I...
متن کاملTranscriptomic resources and marker validation for diploid and polyploid Veronica (Plantaginaceae) from New Zealand and Europe1
PREMISE OF THE STUDY Polyploidy may generate novel variation, leading to adaptation and species diversification. An excellent natural system to study polyploid evolution in a comparative framework is Veronica (Plantaginaceae), which comprises several parallel, recently evolved polyploid series. METHODS Over 105 million Illumina paired-end sequence reads were generated from cDNA libraries of l...
متن کاملEvolution of morphological and climatic adaptations in Veronica L. (Plantaginaceae)
Perennials and annuals apply different strategies to adapt to the adverse environment, based on 'tolerance' and 'avoidance', respectively. To understand lifespan evolution and its impact on plant adaptability, we carried out a comparative study of perennials and annuals in the genus Veronica from a phylogenetic perspective. The results showed that ancestors of the genus Veronicawere likely to b...
متن کاملPhenylethanoid and iridoid glycosides in the New Zealand snow hebes (Veronica, Plantaginaceae).
Snow hebes are the alpine cushion-forming plants of New Zealand Veronica, formerly classified as Chionohebe. The chemical compositions of Veronica pulvinaris and Veronica thomsonii were studied and 33 water-soluble compounds were isolated. The structures of 14 previously unknown esters of phenylethanoid glycosides were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses. Further, eight known phenylethanoids, ...
